The basic composition of stainless steel 304L pipe fitting contains chromium in the range of 18-20% and nickel in the range of 8-12%. They also have good strength and resistance against corrosion. As the lower carbon content is ≤0.03%, there is little risk of carbide precipitation. In this regard, they are more than suitable for welding purposes. The mechanical properties of 304L are tensile strength of 520 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 40% in 50 mm. This alloy provides oxidation resistance and hence gives moderate to high strength. It is rather highly suited to any environment that can be exposed to atmospheric, chemical, or industrial conditions.
