AWS class E309/309L-16 electrodes are used for welding stainless steel to carbon steel or stainless steel to stainless steel. It contains chromium (22-25%) and nickel (12-14%), which increases their resistance to corrosion and high temperatures. These electrodes offer excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and shock toughness. They provide excellent weldability and resist oxidation and scaling at high temperatures. Advantages include improved intergranular corrosion resistance and ease of handling, making it suitable for use in various industrial environments.
