The 309S stainless steel tubing is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy of excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance properties at elevated temperatures. Composition generally consists of 24-26% chromium, 12-22% nickel with small percentages of manganese, silicon, and carbon. The welding properties are exceptionally good for high-temperature exposures, thus furnaces, and heat exchangers make suitable applications for it. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 40%. Carbon content is also low at ≤0.08% with sensitivity resistance, which uses it in welded structures.
