Stainless steel 348H tubing, austenitic chromium-nickel steel, contains columbium (Cb) stabilization so that carbide precipitates. Its composition is typically 17-19% chromium, 9-13% nickel and 0.04-0.10% columbium, with additions such as manganese and silicon. Properties include resistance to corrosion, high temperature oxidation and creep, making it suitable for high pressure applications. Advantages include improved performance in nuclear reactors, chemical processing plants and high-temperature environments, due to increased thermal stability and increased efficiency.
