SS 455 sheets and plates consist primarily of iron with 15-17% chromium, 1-2% nickel, and very small amounts of manganese, silicon, and carbon. These elements give it excellent corrosion resistance, especially in high temperature and acidic environments. Mechanical properties of SS 455 also include a high strength level due to tensile strength in the range of 485-620 MPa along with the yield strength around 275 MPa. It also offers good ductility, hardness, and weldability and can be applied to a very wide range of applications in the aerospace, chemical processing, and construction industries.
