Stainless Steel 316/316L is corrosion-resistant, an austenitic stainless steel containing 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum; 316L has an extra low content of carbon equal to 0.03%, in order to increase the ability to weld properly. The typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of min. 515 MPa and a yield strength of min. 205 MPa and the elongation minimum is 40%. These properties have rendered it suitable for aggressive applications within chemical, marine, and food processing industries, where durability and strength are considered essential.
