SS 317 is a type of austenitic steel which contains about 18% chromium, 14% nickel, and 3-4% molybdenum, with good pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in an acidic environment. The mechanical properties of this material are tensile strength in the range of 515-827 MPa, yield strength of about 205 MPa, and 40% elongation. This material has good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion and can be applied in the chemical processing, petrochemical, as well as marine industries.
