Stainless steel 440b high-carbon chromium steel is known for its high durability and corrosion resistance. Its composition is about 0.6-0.75% carbon and 16-18% chromium, with traces of manganese, silicon and phosphorus. Properties of 440b include high tensile strength, good corrosion resistance and moderate corrosion resistance. It also remains stable at high temperatures. Advantages include its ability to heat treat to increase hardness, making it suitable for applications that require sharp edges and resistance to wear and tear.
